SifrARN : 10th edition

RNAs play a central role in gene expression and are also used as markers and therapeutic drugs in various pathologies, including cancer. The developement of high-throughput sequencing techniques has allowed the identification of new classes of RNAs, the study of which uncovers wholly unexplored aspects of genome functioning.

The 10th edition of the SifrARN meeting organised by the French Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SFBBM, www.sfbbm.fr) will be taken place in Toulouse from the 8th to the 10th of March 2016. The objective of the meeting is to bring together RNA specialists, molecular biologists, biochemists, biophysicists and chemists to exchange on federative topics dealing with the importance of RNA. This congress offers a privileged setting for young scientists, students and post-docs, to present their work and meet other teams. Presentations will be in English.

Registration from the November 3rd 2015 to February 15th 2016.

Only for posters, extension of the deadline for abstract submission: February 17th 2016.

Poster Size : A0 = 84.1 x 118.9cm (width x length)

Program

Topics covered

  • Structure, dynamics and reactivity of RNA
  • Editing and modification of RNA
  • Structure, function and biogenesis of RNP complexes
  • Splicing and post-transcriptional maturation
  • Transport and localisation
  • Translation
  • Surveillance mechanisms and degradation of RNA
  • RNA and epigenetics
  • Small non coding RNAs : miRNAs, piRNAs, regulatory RNAs, riboswitches & CRISPR RNAs
  • Interference RNAs
  • Long non coding RNAs
  • RNAs linked to pathologies, viruses, host/pathogens interactions
  • Synthetic RNAs
  • Systems biology

Focus on guide RNAs

To regulate their targets, guide RNAs act by base-pairing other nucleic acids (RNA or DNA). This concept is now declined across many classes of non-coding RNA, snRNA, miRNA, lincRNA, piRNA, CRISPR/Cas9 ... involved in a wide variety of functions.

Four prestigious speakers will illustrate recent advances in the field :

  • Tamás Kiss, LBME, Toulouse
  • Claire Rougeulle, Université Paris Diderot, Paris
  • Jean-Jacques Toulmé, IECB, Bordeaux
  • The FEBS National Lecturer: John Van Der Oost, Wageningen UR, Pays-Bas

SFBBM fellowships for PhD students

Five fellowships will be financed by the SFBBM to allow PhD students to attend (go to the Registration Page for details).

Welcome to Toulouse (the “Pink City”)

This meeting will take place in the new Congress and Teaching Center “Pierre-Paul Riquet” easily accessible from the historic center of Toulouse, the Matabiau railway station and Toulouse-Blagnac airport. The party on March 9th will be hosted in the “Column room” and the “Pilgrims' room” of the Saint James Old Hospital ( Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Jacques), an emblematic building of Toulouse located on the banks of the Garonne river.
